Most Kukuna® Performance frames (excluding the Element model) feature an interchangeable lens system. This allows athletes to adapt their vision to shifting light conditions without replacing the entire frame:

• Pink/Rose Lenses: Ideal for low-light or overcast conditions; these enhance contrast and depth perception, making them the preferred choice for mountain biking and trail running.

• Photochromic Lenses: These "adaptive" lenses automatically darken when exposed to UV light, providing a seamless transition from forest shade to open sunlight.

• Standard Category 3: Our default 13% VLT lens is optimized for bright, cloudless days on the road or water.

Q: What do Hydrophobic and Oleophobic coatings actually do?

A: These are "surface-shedding" layers. Hydrophobic coatings cause rain and spray to bead up and roll off instantly. Oleophobic coatings resist oils from your fingerprints and face. Together, they ensure your vision stays clear during heavy sweat or coastal sessions without constant wiping.

Q: Can I wear these for coastal running or sailing?

A: Yes. Unlike standard sunglasses, Kukuna® Performance lenses feature Salt-Water Safe Coatings specifically formulated to resist the corrosive nature of salt spray. To maintain this protection, we recommend applying Kukuna® Lens Spray after your session to safely lift any dried salt crystals before storing your glasses.
