Kukuna® Running Sunglasses are engineered for the "active-bounce" challenges of high-intensity training. Crafted from ultra-lightweight TR90 memory polymer, our performance range provides a secure, second-skin fit that is heat-resistant up to 200°C. While the Element offers a streamlined fixed-lens shield, the Apex, Ghost, and Summit models feature interchangeable lens systems, allowing runners to adapt their vision to shifting light levels on the road, trail, or mountain.

Modular Lens System for Changing Environments

Most Kukuna® Performance frames (excluding the Element model) feature an interchangeable lens system. This allows athletes to adapt their vision to shifting light conditions without replacing the entire frame:

• Pink/Rose Lenses: Ideal for low-light or overcast conditions; these enhance contrast and depth perception, making them the preferred choice for mountain biking and trail running.

• Photochromic Lenses: These "adaptive" lenses automatically darken when exposed to UV light, providing a seamless transition from forest shade to open sunlight.

• Standard Category 3: Our default 13% VLT lens is optimised for bright, cloudless days on the road or water.

Why Blue Light Blocking Matters for Athletes

Beyond UV protection, Kukuna® Performance lenses integrate Blue Light Blocking Technology. This filters high-energy visible (HEV) light, which is often responsible for "visual haze." By filtering these wavelengths, athletes experience sharper contrast and reduced eye fatigue, allowing for faster reaction times when tracking a ball on a court or spotting a root on a trail.

Q: Which Kukuna running model has swappable lenses?

A: Three of our four performance models—the Apex, Ghost, and Summit—feature interchangeable lens systems. This makes them the best choice for runners who want to switch between standard sun lenses and contrast-enhancing Rose or Photochromic lenses. If you prefer a simplified, fixed-lens wrap, the Element is the ideal choice.

Q: Do these glasses fog up during intense runs?

A: All Kukuna performance models are treated with Hydrophobic and Oleophobic coatings to repel moisture. The Apex, Ghost, and Summit also feature frame venting to increase airflow. For the best fog-free results, use Kukuna® Lens Spray before your run to create a protective barrier against sweat and condensation.

Q: How do I protect my performance lenses from acidic sweat?

A: Acidic sweat and salt can corrode standard lens coatings. Every Kukuna® performance lens is treated with a Salt-Water Safe coating. To extend their life, rinse with fresh water after your run and use Kukuna® Lens Spray to safely lift oils before drying with your microfibre pouch.
